Should this Blog become the Community Blog?
When children are born they are initially dependent on their parents for almost everything. However, as kids gets older, this dependency fades, and by the time the little rascals are four years old they want to be off doing their own thing, though still having the security of having a parent around.
This is how I sometimes feel about the Freeconomy Community; I gave birth to it, with Derek from Idew as midwife and I've watched it grow up extraordinarily fast. She is only 18 months old but I can already see she wants to go off and make new friends, but still having me there to do her washing, cook her dinner and make her better when she has been feeling ill.
For a while now I have been wondering whether or not I should make this Blog more of a communal thing; it is, after all, a community project! I've been painfully aware of the fact that it may often seem like I am saying 'here's me, look what I am doing!', when in fact its main purpose has been for it to act as resource for anyone who wants to live with less money (or even money-free!).
So I have decided to open it up to members of the community. From now on, if you want to write a blog one week, you can go through the following procedure:
- Email me with a quick proposal for the blog and your username.
- I'll get back asap and we can discuss its suitability for this website.
- If we agree for you to go ahead, I will first show you how you can use links within the blog. Then you can write the blog (between 500 and 1,300 words) and email it to me. I will then publish it. At the bottom I will write who the blog is written by and I will publish a link to whatever project you want promoting.
Topics that are suitable would include, but is by no means limited to, the following – money-free tips or stories, philosophy, anything regarding money or skill-sharing or anything relating to the environment and ways to protect it. Basically, anything which would help make this world a better place to live in is probably valid, though I am aware that is a matter of opinion. If you are unsure, have a read of some of my previous blogs and you'll see how diverse the topics can be – I really don't want to limit it, so if it is positive, relevant and is not having a pop at someone then there's a very good chance it will be suitable.
Last year this Blog was read by about 100,000 different individuals, some of whom were regulars and others who maybe only read it once, so it is a great way for you to get your ideas and message out there and to promote any positive projects that you may be working on through links; the projects we have linked to in this blog in the past have always experienced a large upsurge in visitors, so it is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants it.
I will still continue to write blogs on here as usual, I just think it would be great if there was less from me and more from all you guys.
So if you are interested, email me a brief outline at some point in the future and I will get back to you as soon as I get it. You can also leave a comment below with an email address or link to a website and I’ll get in touch through that. Or if you think I should just keep writing them, let me know also.

Great idea, Mark,
I might write something later. I want others to have a chance first.
Cheers,

What I fear is that Mark will close this site down if we don't make more use of it. Maybe it could be altered to be more in your face and bubbly and so on, with photos and other stuff. Maybe it needs to keep reinventing itself in various ways. The blog idea is one thing, but a general forum rather than a split up forum might be better, as with the yahoo groups that I visit a lot.

Others with a better knowledge of such things might have even better ideas.

*To Robert Howes*
- No.1 I am not going to shut the site down, not sure what gave you that concern!!
- No.2 Tonnes of people are making use of the site everyday, and there are local groups springing up everywhere. I am not sure how things are going around where you live, if I can help in anyway to get it going please just let me know,
Love your enthusiasm, maybe come into one of the Bristol weekly events and that may give you some ideas for approaches for getting people involved - we get anywhere between 20 and 150 coming to weekly meetings.
Have a great day
bandage dress comments ...
Thanks for taking the time to discuss this bandage dress, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic Herve Leger Dress. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.I will bookmark your blog and have my kids check up here frequently V-Neck Bandage Dress. I’m very certain they will understand lots of new stuff here than anybody else. I do appreciate that youve added relevant and intelligent commentary here though. Thank you!
