Hitching and the Law of Abundance...

The law of abundance is a foundation of freeconomy. I believe that if you live your life in the service of others without a care in the world for what tomorrow brings, you will have your needs met in a way infinitely more beautiful than our dog-eat-dog society could ever manage.
In the last couple of days I had my first chance to put my vow of never flying again into action. It was great, I ran into some wonderful characters of all kinds and got to sail on the ocean at night and travel through parts of my native country I'd never been with people I'd never met.

But on top of that I was given the chance to practice the law of abundance. Whilst at the ferry port a couple of ladies in their twilight years asked me if I could help them carry their bags. I think one of them actually did have her kitchen sink in it. So obviously I did. Then at the end they both tried to give me money for a cup of tea to keep me warm on the journey. But obviously I didn't take it. And so they both wished all the luck in the world on my journey to my home town.

So off I went with a smile on my face for meeting two lovely ladies, ready to face the potential 10hr hitchhike ahead. So I walked up the road hitching and waving to all the lovely people passing me by.

But then, after about 5 mins, a car pulls over, and the guy asks me where I am going. 'Enniscorthy and beyond, what about you', I say. Up near Donegal, he replies. My jaw dropped. That by the way is where I am from. To put it into perspective for folk in the UK, its like hitching from Lands End and having the first car that pulls over tell you they are going to your hometown of John O'Groats. Not only that, but the guy was a rally driver, who, let's say, was in a hurry to get home for Christmas.

So he brings me to within 30 mins of my house in about 6 hours. I jump out and have hardly the bag on my back when another beautiful soul pulls over. He's going to my hometown and it just so happens that he's a strong proponent of the Irish language. So we spend the next half an hour going through a valley singing along to some Gaelic songs and wondering how we can save the language.

All in all the whole trip only took 18hrs. In there I met loads of people, got on the ocean, and got to see the country I grew up in.
And it ended up costing less (both short term and definitely long term) than if I had taken a 'cheap' flight, which as you may have picked up on is in my humble opinion only 'cheap' in the short-term.

The law of abundance comes into play when you stop worry and start living your life the way you know you would like to. Life then becomes an adventure and is fuller beyond our comprehension.

The call this moment 'the present' because that's exactly what it is. A present.
