Everything is OK
The deadline for my book, The Moneyless Man, which is an account of my year without money and the philosofree behind it, is at the end of this month, and I still have over half of it to write and edit. So as you can imagine every second of rapid finger movement is going into that at the moment.
So for the next few weeks, my blogs are going to be a bit short and sweet. It would be great if you could help make the blog for the next few weeks by raising debate and information in the comments section. I'll do my best to join in!
The first of these mini-blogs is a little short film called Everything is OK - this is really one of the funniest bits of filming I've ever seen, yet the message is spot on. It's funny only because it is true.
Another uplifting short film is Bodhisattva in Metro, but don't even think of doing it yourself - happy people are terrible consumers!
Do you know of any online films that you think would be useful for others to see? If so, feel free to add a link in the comments section below!
Now stop reading this hippy propaganda and go out and there and shop for more useless crap you don't need, your economy needs YOU!
THE FREECONOMY BLOG is written by Mark Boyle, founder of The Freeconomy Community. Mark has just completed a year without money, but hates the thought of going back so has decided to continue.

"Bodhisattva in Metro, but don't even think of doing it yourself"
Why do you not think it's a good idea for people to try this?
Personally, I found the film a bit boring and I'm guessing I'm in a minority among the readers of your blog, but I take it the man was happy to laugh; when others joined it, it was a bonus but he would have been happy just to laugh (am I right?). In any case, I guess if it went well for him it could go well for anyone else who'd want to try it, or who just felt like laughing aloud in public.

I thought this phrase was neat:
"If the governments sleep, let the citizens rise"
said a lady called Dr Vandana Shiva who is in a (rather serious) short video :

Thanks for funny video links Mark and hope writing's going really well

If you like those two films, you'll probably enjoy (or have already seen):
Validation by Kurt Kuenne
"Kiwanis has begun using the film in its leadership training programs, certain ministers use it with their congregations, and some organizations tell me that they show it to their employees to boost morale. I never would have anticipated that reaction, and it’s wonderful to know that people are finding something in the film that perhaps I wasn’t aware was there."

Hello I'm a new member to the freeconomy group. I'm not new to the concept being proposed. I have a reccomended free video to watch online called zietgeist addendum. It is very thought provoking as well as a very basic introduction towards Resource Based Economics. I feel that this organization is very like minded in what we are trying to achieve. If you watch the video and would like to do further research let me know I would be happy to provide links to free reading materials. thank you for your time

Not very uplifting but a must watch is Earthings: A movie on our relationship to other beings on the planet.
Here is the trailer (some strong images are shown but this is a short preview for those that may be interested to watch the full on version in Google videos) http://www.earthlings.com/
Joaquim Fenix narrates it.

Araya, I have only watched the trailer to Earthlings. My sons aged 8 and 11, asked if they could watch too. We were all upset and horrified!
The boys have decided that they will only eat meat that we retrieve from the bin at the back of our supermarket (as it's on its way to landfill, to fester into methane gas, anyway).
Perhaps this movie should be compulsory viewing for us all?

Ytrish- that quote made me laugh out loud... only problem with it is that said mosquitto gets squished in our house... so not such a good example to persuade people to get up and do something... they might get squished, lol!!

Watch "Alone in the Wilderness" on You Tube.
NOT the one that was on Channel 4 recently with the guy constantly crying and making very little progress, but a really old film by a guy who build a cabin in Alaska and lived there on his own for years. You have never seen anything like this guy! It's a bit old school but it is so uplifting and positive.
It comes in 6 ten minute parts and his name is Dick Proenecke-check the spelling!
